Impossible to emulate? NOPE!

So, if you’ve been following the Sega Mega Drive homebrew scene, you will undoubtedly be aware of the game known as “Paprium”. A sprawling 80meg beat-em-up with some “amazing” extra chips built right into the cartridge to offer an experience unlike any other on the system. And it was claimed by the developers, Watermelon Games, that the only way to experience it would be to back their crowdfunder and buy a cartridge, as it would be absolutely unemulateable.

Well, guess what? After years of missed deadlines, utter bullshit excuses from lead developer Fonzie, and huge amounts of online sniping… Paprium is now emulated.

I know, who would have guessed it would have ever happened, right? I mean, the second you tell the scene it can’t be emulated, someone will try to prove you wrong. And they have done so.

All you need is a copy of the dumped Paprium rom (do a Google for it folks, I ain’t linking to it from here as I really can’t be arsed dealing with fonzie and his bullshit), and a customised Mega Drive core for RetroArch (again, Google is your friend). Get thats et up, and…. voila! Paprium. The unemulateable Mega Drive game, emulated.

Maybe this will push Watermelon/Fonzie into finally getting his shit together and sending the remaining backers their copies (some did get sent, hence the ROM dump), but knowing how he has acted thus far…. I think it’s more likely he will throw another tantrum and act like a prick.
