Our Mission Statement

Good lord, “mission statement” sounds so cheesy. But we kinda do have one. And when I say “we”, I mean me, as the entire 8/16/32bit project is the work of just one person, me. I’m Robb Hitchen, and I’ve been a gamer since I was about 5 years old. And given that at the time I’m writing this I’m 46, headed towards 47, that’s a hell of a long time.

Me (I know, scary isn’t it?)

Anyway, the “mission statement” for 8/16/32bit is quite simple: We extoll the joys of playing retro videogames. None of that “gatekeeping” bullshit here. No “If you weren’t there first time around you are not a proper retrogamer” bollocks. Nope. I want to see as many new people discover (or rediscover as it may well be the case) retro games and enjoy them just like I do. Just because someone is young, it doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy and understand these old games that the retro community loves. You don’t have to be my age (or older) to enjoy Manic Miner, or Space Invaders.

Wizards Lair. A game older than some of you reading this website.

So you will find written articles on here that i create to sit alongside the videos I put on Youtube. Some of the articles will be brief. Some will ramble on for a while. I can’t guarantee they will always be the most interesting, or well written. But I do guarantee they will be honest and written from the heart.
